Do you really want the Lord to send you?

Do you really want the Lord to send you?

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8

The bible highlights several different situations where God called and the response was “Here I am”. We see this for Abraham (Genesis 22:1), Moses (Exodus 3:4), Samuel (1 Samuel 3:4).

As a Christian in our walk with Christ we are taught these scriptures in the bible and are told that we should always say yes. And many of us do want to say yes. We all want to be chosen to go out and do something for God. After all, looking at the greatness of Abraham, Samuel and Moses and their legacy, we want to leave a legacy like that as well.

Last year, a close family member that I have looked up to as a mentor and love dearly died of cancer.

The usual questions of “Why me? Why can’t I be healed? Lord I don’t understand” plagued her before her death.

I sought God

So after prayer, I went home and just saught the Lord fervently for answers.
I got an answer …
We are so eager to say “Send me Lord” but what if HE sent you on your journey with cancer?
My blood ran cold…
I froze and just couldn’t believe what came to my mind!
“Lord to be honest, I didn’t think of it that way. I know you can send us to do your work in many different ways and at many times we are tested to see if we are suited for the journey. But a deadly disease…..”
I felt ashamed.
And you know, I further thought of Job.
You see … We all know the story of Job. Job was tested, everything was taken away. He persevered without cursing God and was rewarded. This basically sums up how many of us are taught that story.
But what you rarely hear about is the anguish, sickness and utter despair Job must have experienced. Job also was full of sores from the top of his head to the sole of his feet (Job 2:7). We skip all the gory parts to speak about the glorious end when the Lord restored the fortunes of Job and gave Job twice as much as he had before.(Job 42:10).
But it was a journey.
As noted with Job, the devil can’t do anything to the Lord’s children without God’s express permission (Job 1:12). The very things that Job feared, the devil used against him.

Food for thought

Reflect, do you really want the Lord to send you? People of God, we are called to go out into this world to spread the Word of God and to give God all the glory. Many times that will happen through our own pain and anguish. But it is a test. So Pray. Pray for strength and wisdom. Pray for peace in your suffering. And most of all, pray for God to be glorified. So let us live our lives answering God’s call and preparing ourselves for the battles ahead.
Prayer: Abba Father, God of amazing love, thank you. Thank you that we are your adopted sons and daughters. Nothing can separate us from your love. So in our battles, conflicts and anguish, may we remember to give you all the praise and glory. May we be firm in answering your call and accepting the journey with reassurance in your promise to never leave or forsake us. In Jesus name. Amen
May God’s mercy and peace be with you.

I became a Christian at a young age and baptized at the age of 13. My journey has been bittersweet. A majority of my life I have been a Christian. But not a Godly Woman. After many failures, tears and tribulation I realized that something in my Christian life had to change. No longer can I profess that I am a Christian but don’t show daily that Christ lives in me! No longer can I claim that I am HIS child when my thoughts, actions and deeds were not overflowing with HIS love. No longer could I live the way I was living and not seek him daily in prayer, scripture and worship. As the Lord blessed me with that knowledge I felt him also calling me to write my journey and share my thoughts, learning and mistakes with others. Hence the reason for 911. Not only was it a crises in my life to become a Godly Woman but as I delved into scripture to understand how to be Godly, I realized that we are living in crazy world where the desire to be Godly was no longer important. Many boast that they are a Christian and weekly attend Church, but lack the Godly qualities that Christ seeks in ALL of his followers. My deepest desire is to serve Christ faithfully, obey HIM joyfully, trust HIM always, seek HIM eternally and become his close friend so that I can share in his truth and knowledge. I pray that this blog blesses you and provide you with the strength, courage and wisdom to be a Godly Man or Woman.

  1. Never thought about it this way… The sending or the going I have always associated with the Mission field, but I guess, that mission field can start with my life being totally dedicated to Him Thank you for sharing

    1. It was an eye opener “aha moment” for me as well when I felt the Holy Spirit guiding me. It is actually a bit scary if I am brutally honest but I go in faith and proclaim, “All for HIS glory”.
