
The new year is right around the corner and you are probably in the frame of mind of what should I do differently in next year.
How about… being a super hero?
With the onslaught in the past few years of so many movies and shows displaying humans that have super powers, one of the things I hear from kids (and some adults) is their wish to be “insert superpower character name”.
Humans have a constant desire to be more… And whether a Christian or non-Christian, this desire has come up in many of my conversations.
As Christians though, we have been granted a promise that not many have realized. After all, if they did have these verses locked in their hearts then they would know that they are already a super power human.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; Acts 1:8
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, Ephesians 1:18-20
When we receive Christ as our Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit comes upon us and we immediately receive the power of God. God’s inherent power lives within us.
And as with the characters that you love in the movies, each one has a different power. The same as Christians… we all each have different attributes and characteristics that we can use in the kingdom.
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, Ephesians 3:20
Food for thought: Christians are ‘super humans’. We have the power of the One True Living God living within us. With this knowledge, how are you going to change the world next year?
Prayer: Father, how you love us. Forgive us our earthly wishes and desires. Your power can never compare to anything our human minds may conjure up. Omnipotent, all powerful, God may we trust your power and strength in our lives. To the glory and honor of your Kingdom. In Jesus name. Amen
