Prayers to God

Prayers to God: Less Fear and More Faith

Woman of God, what trying times we face right now. As I sit isolated in my home from the COVID-19 pandemic that is sweeping across the planet right now, I reflect on a social media post that left me aching.

A woman posted that she lost her job because of COVID-19; she had children to feed and didn’t know how she was going to get through all of this. Someone replied to her post and told her to have faith. She replied, “I am trying hard to have faith, but I am struggling. How do I have faith when all of this is happening to me?”

You see, she was right. How do you have faith in times of trouble? It is easy for someone who does not have children, or is secure in their job to say this. At the end of the day, no matter how loving we want to sound, it may never ring true if we have not lived out our faith in times of distress and trouble.

I have. I have been through the crevices of the darkness in the valley low. Begged for God to take my life. Suffered and felt like I was drowning and didn’t know how to breath for air. I have been so mad at God for what I had been through, not understanding why.

I have felt the fears, uncertainties and confusion that this young woman is no doubt experiencing right now. For those interested in my story, you can find it here. But my only response to that young woman, and those of you that have lost their jobs or loved ones. To those who are struggling with fear and trying to hold on to their faith amidst this monster that they are facing. There is only one thing to do.

Less Fear and more Faith

Pray to God. Our prayers to God is the connection that we need to have the strength and peace to get through all that is coming our way. Because this storm isn’t over yet, but only when we are connected with God, can we battle through this.

“Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” (Matthew 14:25-31)

Peter didn’t start sinking in the water until he took his eyes off Jesus. Peter did what no other man did: he walked on water in obedience to Christ command. But when he started looking at all the issues around him, he started doubting the power of Jesus.

Prayer

I understand how easy it is to fear the giants around you. You may not physically see God, but He is there around you woman of God. Every time that you are feeling any fear or anxiety, I want you to stop and say this prayer,

Holy Father, I lift my hands up to you. Creator of all things, the I AM, Alpha and Omega, praise, glory and honor be to your holy name. Holy spirit, fill me with power so that I may worship in spirit and in truth for the word of the Lord is right and true. Father, I stand before you today in fear and anxiety.

I know that you are aware of my situation and circumstances right now. You word tells me in Psalm 139 that ‘you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.’

I trust you Lord. I trust You. In this time of uncertainty, I choose to believe that you will give me this day my daily bread and provide for all the needs of my family. Protect us under the blood of your son, Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen

I became a Christian at a young age and baptized at the age of 13. My journey has been bittersweet. A majority of my life I have been a Christian. But not a Godly Woman. After many failures, tears and tribulation I realized that something in my Christian life had to change. No longer can I profess that I am a Christian but don’t show daily that Christ lives in me! No longer can I claim that I am HIS child when my thoughts, actions and deeds were not overflowing with HIS love. No longer could I live the way I was living and not seek him daily in prayer, scripture and worship. As the Lord blessed me with that knowledge I felt him also calling me to write my journey and share my thoughts, learning and mistakes with others. Hence the reason for 911. Not only was it a crises in my life to become a Godly Woman but as I delved into scripture to understand how to be Godly, I realized that we are living in crazy world where the desire to be Godly was no longer important. Many boast that they are a Christian and weekly attend Church, but lack the Godly qualities that Christ seeks in ALL of his followers. My deepest desire is to serve Christ faithfully, obey HIM joyfully, trust HIM always, seek HIM eternally and become his close friend so that I can share in his truth and knowledge. I pray that this blog blesses you and provide you with the strength, courage and wisdom to be a Godly Man or Woman.
