Let your light shine

“When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord. When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him. But Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the community came back to him, and he spoke to them…When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face. But whenever he entered the Lord’s presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the Lord.” Exodus 34:29-31, 33-35

A few months back a lady commented to me how radiant I looked.

I was taken back and didn’t know what to say. I can’t remember my response but I remember how it made me feel. I also remembered that it was a time in which I started a new journey with Christ and I guess I would say a promise.

I wasn’t glowing with radiance because I was trying out a new look or using different cosmetics… I was joyful.

The Lord filled my heart with a promise and I was excited about my future. I was excited about our journey together and where HE would lead me.

Think back to times that you spent with God in deep worship and revelation. Did you not feel differently after? Telling people that you are radiant because you just spent time with God may make others think you have gone a bit crazy, but it is such an awesome feeling.

God told us we are to let our light shine. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.Matthew 5:15-16

We should be going out and shining our lights so bright that people will start asking others about us… Who is that? Tell me more about them? What do they do?

You notice how flies and other insects are attracted to bright lights? They just can’t help it. They need to see what it’s all about. Your light should shine so brightly that it attracts people from everywhere.

And we can only get that light and radiance by doing these 3 things:

Have Faith: You have to have faith and believe in the one Living God.

Communicate with HIM daily: Pray, read HIS word and fast. Moses fasted for 40 days and 40 nights. Fasting is a direct line to getting closer to Christ.

Share: The more you share, the more you get comfortable with sharing. The more you learn and spend time in HIS word and communicate with HIM will provide you with more opportunities to share.

Food for thought: This simple Sunday school song with such a powerful lesson:

This little light of mine

I’m gonna let it shine shine shine shine

This little light of mine

I’m gonna let it shine

let it shine

let it shine

let it shine.

Let people want what you have. Shine your light for Jesus. Get closer to HIM and see his radiance shine within you.

Prayer: Gracious Father, may your light shine within us so that you receive all the glory. Amen

May God’s mercy, grace and peace be with you.

I became a Christian at a young age and baptized at the age of 13. My journey has been bittersweet. A majority of my life I have been a Christian. But not a Godly Woman. After many failures, tears and tribulation I realized that something in my Christian life had to change. No longer can I profess that I am a Christian but don’t show daily that Christ lives in me! No longer can I claim that I am HIS child when my thoughts, actions and deeds were not overflowing with HIS love. No longer could I live the way I was living and not seek him daily in prayer, scripture and worship. As the Lord blessed me with that knowledge I felt him also calling me to write my journey and share my thoughts, learning and mistakes with others. Hence the reason for 911. Not only was it a crises in my life to become a Godly Woman but as I delved into scripture to understand how to be Godly, I realized that we are living in crazy world where the desire to be Godly was no longer important. Many boast that they are a Christian and weekly attend Church, but lack the Godly qualities that Christ seeks in ALL of his followers. My deepest desire is to serve Christ faithfully, obey HIM joyfully, trust HIM always, seek HIM eternally and become his close friend so that I can share in his truth and knowledge. I pray that this blog blesses you and provide you with the strength, courage and wisdom to be a Godly Man or Woman.
