What does a Godly Woman look like? 17 things you need to know.
Have you ever wondered what a godly woman looks like? I surely have.
I was listening to a radio show recently, and someone on the panel said with passion in his voice, “As a man, I am guilty of looking on the outside for beauty. But, I don’t just want any woman. I want a Godly woman.” Another panel member quickly responded, “I agree with you. But the trouble is finding one.”
That left me disheartened. I wanted to call in and say, “we are here.” But it got me thinking. Is it that we are hard to find, or is it because who we are and show to the world, does not identify the God in us?
What does God look for in a Godly woman?
Last week, we explored beauty and what the bible has to say about it. Above all, we learned that God’s thoughts and priorities are not like man’s. So God doesn’t focus on the outside, but more on the heart. When choosing the second King for Israel,
“the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”” 1 Samuel 16:7
My friend, this tells me that I need to work on my heart, my character. I need to glorify God, not in how much I adorn myself with the latest trends or the best makeup, but how I live my life. But let’s be careful. Matthew 23:28 warns, “in the same way, on the outside, you appear to people as righteous, but on the inside, you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.” As much as we can trick other people, let’s not fool ourselves in thinking that God doesn’t know our true feelings and intentions.
So, what does a Godly Woman look like?
In order to understand what a godly woman looks like, I went to God in prayer and worship. I enjoyed studying and learning over the past few weeks. To do this justice, I will list out the qualities I found and spend time on each character quality over the next few weeks.

Girl, let’s not get disheartened. I see you over there! Trust me, I felt the same way and had a come to Jesus moment.
As I studied and identified these characteristics, I felt my spirit getting lower and lower. But in all honesty, I felt God laughing at me when I exclaimed, “this woman isn’t born yet!” And I felt Him lay on my heart, that this isn’t a checklist. These are all important characteristics for godly women, but we attain them during different life stages.
Reflection
Food for thought:
There was a burden of relief settling within my soul. I am not several of these things on this list, but I am working on some of these areas in my life. I am blessed and a work in progress, and I am thankful for that. If I were perfect, then I would not need Christ. So my friend, don’t make these attributes of a godly woman dampen you, smile and be affirmed in your faith that God is with you and He will do great work within you.

Prayer of a godly woman:
Holy Father, being a woman, is hard, especially so for different parts of the world. Many women have had a terrible life, but we know that this was not part of Your original design. Sin has corrupted the earth. We lift our voices to you. Remind this beautiful woman of God that is reading here today that she is not inferior. We know the great blessings that abound for persons experiencing tribulations. Protect this beautiful woman that is reading this post, and may you multiply her blessings. As she reviews this list of characteristics of a godly woman, may she not be downcast that not every item fits her perfectly. In her imperfectness, You have such a beautiful canvas for mastery. May she open her heart and let Your work be done. In Jesus’ name. Amen
May God’s grace, mercy, and peace be with you.
