Willingness to have an unplanned child

Scared. Hyperventillating. Sweat is dripping down my face.

This wasn’t supposed to happen to me.

What will my family think?

I can’t do this!

My hands are shaking as I look down again at the two red lines.

I am pregnant!

Oh my gosh, I want to just throw up.

Unintended pregnancies research showed that:

“Approximately 16% of British pregnancies are unplanned. In France, 33% of pregnancies are unintended. Sweden results showed that the prevalence of unintended pregnancies were 23.2%. For Russia, 23% described them as “desired, but untimely”, and 19% said they were “undesired”. The United States rate of unintended pregnancies is higher than the world average, and much higher than that in other industrialized nations. Almost half (49%) of U.S. pregnancies are unintended, more than 3 million unintended pregnancies per year.”

The story of Mary, Mother of Jesus.

She wasn’t planning to have a baby. Unmarried. A virgin.

A story that many of you probably know very well (Luke 1:26-56).

But she was willing in her actions to do it at God’s timing.

Many women have been raped.

Many women have unexpected children as we see in the stats above.

You may have been raped and you are mad, disgusted and hurting. God loves you and he weeps as you weep. Justice is HIS and HIS alone… Don’t give up. (Psalm 9:9)

You may be pregnant and thinking about not having this baby. Don’t give up. (Psalm 127:3-5)

For those of you that believed and trusted in a God who has greater plans for all of us, I say thanks.

Many families have opened their home to be adoring parents or foster parents.

I was one of those children that grew up in a foster home.

And today I say a special thanks to all of these women, foster parents, adoptive parents and their families that have not only opened their homes but their hearts to orphans … the unwanted.

Prayer: God of comfort and love, there are many women in pain, anguish and despair every year around Mother’s day. Give us a heart of compassion and love for them. For those that have given their lives and hearts to orphans, may they be blessed beyond their imagination. In Matthew 25:40 we are reminded that “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ May we continue to live our lives doing our all for you. Amen

May God’s grace, mercy and peace be with you.

I became a Christian at a young age and baptized at the age of 13. My journey has been bittersweet. A majority of my life I have been a Christian. But not a Godly Woman. After many failures, tears and tribulation I realized that something in my Christian life had to change. No longer can I profess that I am a Christian but don’t show daily that Christ lives in me! No longer can I claim that I am HIS child when my thoughts, actions and deeds were not overflowing with HIS love. No longer could I live the way I was living and not seek him daily in prayer, scripture and worship. As the Lord blessed me with that knowledge I felt him also calling me to write my journey and share my thoughts, learning and mistakes with others. Hence the reason for 911. Not only was it a crises in my life to become a Godly Woman but as I delved into scripture to understand how to be Godly, I realized that we are living in crazy world where the desire to be Godly was no longer important. Many boast that they are a Christian and weekly attend Church, but lack the Godly qualities that Christ seeks in ALL of his followers. My deepest desire is to serve Christ faithfully, obey HIM joyfully, trust HIM always, seek HIM eternally and become his close friend so that I can share in his truth and knowledge. I pray that this blog blesses you and provide you with the strength, courage and wisdom to be a Godly Man or Woman.

  1. Hi Amanda, thanks for reading and responding. As you may note in my piece, there are situations where many women are raped and cannot fathom giving birth to the child – for those women who still go ahead with it, my posts was a thanks to them. Many would not have been able to make a profound impact on the world if their mothers chose to get rid of their child. I do not agree with women who have a choice as there is many different forms of protection available for many. There is also abstinence and the discipline of abstinence. God in HIS wisdom declared that all children are a blessing. Yes, there are many parents out there who do a better job than the rest but I am not here to judge anyone. For those that are brave enough to go ahead no matter the circumstance, I give them thanks. I was one of the unwanted and I give God thanks for my life, each and every day.

    1. Hi Amanda, it is sad the view that you have placed on this post which again is just to give thanks to the women who allowed me to have life. Again, I was not judging but providing additional insights to our ‘modern society’. Thanks for your time and comments. My prayers are with you as you journey on this topic. May God’s grace, mercy and peace be with you.

      1. Amanda, this is now twice that you have twisted my words for your gain. I didn’t say that which leads me to believe now that something happened in your life. I have been raped. I have been through horrific abuse in my life and I GIVE GOD all the glory for where I am today. I will never apologize for my beliefs or my passion and love for Christ. I am nothing without HIM and I continually see HIM doing amazing things in my life. You may not believe this right now, but God loves you. He hears you. He sees your pain right now. There is nothing that you can do that will make HIM love you less. I am here if you need me to pray for you. God’s peace be with you.

      2. Amanda, again this was not what was written nor was intoned. Those same pro-life laws is what allowed me to be here and have life. So no, I am not sorry for them. Rape is evil and it was not ‘invented’ by God. We live in a world where persons have choices. They either choose to believe in the one true God or they choose not to. For those that choose not to and live a life of sin and evil, the bible states that “A worthless person, a wicked man,
        goes about with crooked speech,
13 winks with his eyes, signals[c] with his feet,
        points with his finger,
14 with perverted heart devises evil,
        continually sowing discord;
        15 therefore calamity will come upon him suddenly;
in a moment he will be broken beyond healing.

16 There are six things that the Lord hates,
seven that are an abomination to him:
17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue,
and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked plans,
feet that make haste to run to evil,
19 a false witness who breathes out lies,
and one who sows discord among brothers.” Proverbs 6:12-19

Then in Psalm 5:4 it tells us that “For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you.”

And further in Revelation 22:10-15, the Bible gives us joy to what will happen to wicked people (including rapists): “10 Then the angel told me, “Do not keep secret the words of prophecy in this book, because the time is near for all this to happen. 11 Let whoever is doing evil continue to do evil. Let whoever is unclean continue to be unclean. Let whoever is doing right continue to do right. Let whoever is holy continue to be holy.”

12 “Listen! I am coming soon! I will bring my reward with me, and I will repay each one of you for what you have done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega,[a] the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

14 “Blessed are those who wash their robes[b] so that they will receive the right to eat the fruit from the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. 15 Outside the city are the evil people, those who do evil magic, who sin sexually, who murder, who worship idols, and who love lies and tell lies.”

All non believers including wicked people will not be going to heaven. The gates will be closed to them.

So, do I hate the men that raped me… NO! Was I angry, hurt, disgusted and reviled everyone and everything…YES!

Did I hate God for what he made happen to me? NO… Why? In my pain and sorrow, I didn’t understand why. I couldn’t understand why. And I became heavily depressed. But above all things, I hated the position I was placed in and refused to let those men win.

The bottom line was that I had to trust God. Some days were easier than others but with God’s help I was able to forgive and move on.

Obviously I am sharing a lot more with you than I have ever shared with anyone else but my choice in doing that is to express that I have been one of those ‘girls’. I lived a horrific childhood of constant abuse and rape but I didn’t let it define who I was. I came out on top with the blessings of amazing foster parents in my latter forming years as a child. I am a God mother to a beautiful and talented child whose mother was raped. She read this post as well and was confused at your sentiments. She is totally in love with her baby and thank God daily that she has her baby.

We have all felt this pain and maybe one day I will be able to speak of that with my audience.

God didn’t invent wickedness… the devil schemes and destroys and plans constantly to drive us away from God.

I refuse to be a part of his plans and allow him to win in my life.

        I am a conqueror.

I am a child of God.

And yes, I thank my country for pro-life ideology and laws which allowed me to live life and live it abundantly.

No apologies will ever be given for that but for those that have actually been raped and is hurting, my prayers and work that I do will continually be lifted for them.
