Should I vote?

Should I vote?

The excitement of a man of color running for President has been definitely overshadowed by this year’s candidates.

This post isn’t about who you should vote for nor is it going to compare the candidates but I want to explore the biblical view of voting.

Did you know that there are over 5-7 million Christians registered to vote in the US? And of that figure only about 50% actually vote!

Bible guide

The bible is our guide for all things so what does the bible say?

Deuteronomy 1:13

Choose for your tribes wise, understanding, and experienced men, and I will appoint them as your heads.’

Exodus 18:20-21

Moreover, look for able men from all the people, men who fear God, who are trustworthy and hate a bribe, and place such men over the people as chiefs of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens.

Romans 13:1

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

Timothy 2:1-2

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.

I have listened to quite a few preachers over the past few months speaking about the candidates and voting but not one of them has followed the bible instructions.

Seek ye First the Kingdom of God. In all things seek Christ. Pray and ask him for guidance and wisdom.

The bible states that God will make rulers and dethrone them. So should you vote? Yes!

“He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding;” Daniel 2:21

God has blessed you with the opportunity and freedom to vote. Are you going to thank him by seeking him first in your choice and obeying him or are you going to turn your back on him?

“And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.” Isaiah 30:21

Lastly, If we as God’s people would obey him and listen to his voice for all of our voting rights (from school leaders to councils, senators and presidents) what joy we would bring to God’s heart and how it would bring the change we want for our government and country.

Thought: Who is God leading you to vote for? Have you prayed and fasted or have you given up or just don’t care? Don’t fall into despair. Seek Christ. Listen and obey.

Prayer: Yahweh, you are Creator and Ruler of all. The Great I AM. Praise and glory be to your Holy name. Forgive us Lord for accepting the back seat and not taking a stand for voting. Forgive us when he have plowed ahead and not included you in helping us decide who you want in office. We are faced with choices that may fill us with despair but your word reminds us that you are in control so we lean on you for guidance and strength. May your will be done. In Jesus name. Amen.

I became a Christian at a young age and baptized at the age of 13. My journey has been bittersweet. A majority of my life I have been a Christian. But not a Godly Woman. After many failures, tears and tribulation I realized that something in my Christian life had to change. No longer can I profess that I am a Christian but don’t show daily that Christ lives in me! No longer can I claim that I am HIS child when my thoughts, actions and deeds were not overflowing with HIS love. No longer could I live the way I was living and not seek him daily in prayer, scripture and worship. As the Lord blessed me with that knowledge I felt him also calling me to write my journey and share my thoughts, learning and mistakes with others. Hence the reason for 911. Not only was it a crises in my life to become a Godly Woman but as I delved into scripture to understand how to be Godly, I realized that we are living in crazy world where the desire to be Godly was no longer important. Many boast that they are a Christian and weekly attend Church, but lack the Godly qualities that Christ seeks in ALL of his followers. My deepest desire is to serve Christ faithfully, obey HIM joyfully, trust HIM always, seek HIM eternally and become his close friend so that I can share in his truth and knowledge. I pray that this blog blesses you and provide you with the strength, courage and wisdom to be a Godly Man or Woman.
