Morbid yes. But honestly, if you knew you had a few hours to live what would you do? 
I am fascinated with the life of Moses and reading the Old Testament.
God told Moses to get Aaron and pass on his robes to his son Eleazer because he is going to die soon.
“Remove Aaron’s garments and put them on his son Eleazar, for Aaron will be gathered to his people; he will die there.” Numbers 20:26
Wow!
I have spent time thinking about what must have gone through both Aaron and Moses mind. What must have been that final conversation between Moses and Aaron? These two went through a lot together. I wonder what Aaron did as his final list of items to complete before he departed.
Many ask ‘why Lord’ but Aaron wouldn’t have. He knew why. His and Moses credit of a miracle to themselves instead of God as told in the story last week caused them not to enter the promised land. So he knew why.
Maybe his last words to Moses was to remain strong, have faith and he would be waiting to greet him with open arms on the other side. And to his son, maybe it was a caution to follow all of God’s precepts and to be faithful.
We will never know because the bible doesn’t say. But it has caused me to reflect on what I would do if I had a few hours to live.
My first action would be to pray. Thanking God for life and just asking HIM to give me the strength and guide me “to do it right”.
It would be so easy to get caught up on the “why Lord” but it wouldn’t bring HIM glory.
It would be easy to get caught up in being upset, hurt and grief, but it wouldn’t bring HIM glory.
It would be easy to get caught up in living the life and go out hard, but it wouldn’t give HIM glory.
It would be easy to lock myself away and have a just don’t care attitude because I am going to die anyway, but it wouldn’t give HIM glory.
Food for thought: If you had hours to live, what would you do to bring glory to the King?
Prayer: Abba Father, forgive us when we don’t get it right. As your Son said, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done”. Always your will and for your glory Father. In Jesus name. Amen
God’s grace, mercy and peace be with you.
Based on my understand that death is the inevitable end to all flesh after the sin of Adam in Genesis, if I have a few hours (though pain because of the loved ones I will not see again), I think It is a great opportunity to start tidying up my affairs quickly starting with asking God for mercy for sins and being grateful for life spent.
