2 Corinthians 10:3-6 (The Message – MSG)
The world is unprincipled. It’s dog-eat-dog out there! The world doesn’t fight fair. But we don’t live or fight our battles that way—never have and never will. The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity. Read the full chapter.
What does 2 Corinthians 10:5 mean?
In ancient times, Paul faced enemies who continually used arguments and pretensions against the Christian teachings. In life, we will face times where persons will argue about our faith – this is spiritual warfare. We are called to be continually prepared to defend what we believe, to preach the gospel of Christ and counter false teachings. Paul takes it a step further by taking every thought captive and making it obedient to Christ. How do we do that? As people of God, we are encouraged to worship, fast, pray and study the Word of God. Much spiritual warfare can only be broken through steadfast fasting and prayer. This will help bring our thoughts and actions into submission.
Pray Scripture
Father, fill us with your Holy Spirit. On my own, I know that I can fall easily into the traps of the devil. Build a hedge around my thoughts and hold it captive to be obedient to your will Lord. For every argument and claim that goes against Your truth, fill me with wisdom, knowledge and understanding. All for your glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen
