What fruit are you bearing?

One of our pastors the other day made a reference that was funny at first, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized it was something that should be a major concern within the community of God’s saints.

The statement made was that there were people serving the kingdom and bearing fruit, but many were not bearing the right fruit.

So, if you had a lime tree in the back of your yard and in your excitement waiting for the limes, when the fruit bears, you realize that you did not get limes from the tree but in fact you got apples.

Crazy huh!

Sometimes when you see the actions, words and deeds of other Christians, it leaves you pretty confused.

In my reflection of this it brought me to another parable Jesus taught:

“He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.” He told them still another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all throupexels-photo-209403.jpeggh the dough.”” Matthew 13:31-33

This parable reminds me that I may not be the wisest, strongest, bravest or largest Saint within the Kingdom but if I prayerfully plant the seeds given to me, nurture and care for them, then those seeds have the potential to grow in to great things for the Kingdom.

In fact, at the launch of one of my new Bible Study groups, I recognized in the beginning that I am the most unqualified person for that study, but as God’s vessel, I was willing to be used by HIM and so submitted to HIS will and guidance.

Yeast is such a powerful agent. Yeast, though very tiny when you look at it, is a very big player in dough making. If you use too much, it leaves a bad taste to your dough. If you use too little, your dough may not rise. If it is expired, the results of the dough will bear witness to that. In the hands of the creator of the dough, the mastery of knowing just how much yeast to put in will produce excellent results. Yeast - Kingdom of God - Matthew 13:33 - Godly Woman 911

Like us, we all started out as new Christians, small and not too sure of ourselves and the impact we can make in the Kingdom of God. But once we allow ourselves to be used by God, and see HIS mighty works being done, we realize what a huge effect we have made on behalf of the Kingdom.

The key though is that we have to allow ourselves to be used by God. We have to be willing to serve and exclaim, “Here am I. Send me” Isaiah 6:8

Food for thought: We were not created to just live our lives focused on ourselves. We were created by God for his good will and purpose. Are you serving in God’s Kingdom?

Prayer: Abba Father, for some it is easy to live a comfortable life without the stress of thinking about others. Forgive us. You started the Kingdom (the dough) with just twelve men (the yeast) and today we continue to see it rise. Nurture hearts of love and compassion in your children so that we can live our lives like Isaiah 6:8 asking you eagerly to ‘send me’. In Jesus name. Amen

May the God of grace, peace and love be with you.

I became a Christian at a young age and baptized at the age of 13. My journey has been bittersweet. A majority of my life I have been a Christian. But not a Godly Woman. After many failures, tears and tribulation I realized that something in my Christian life had to change. No longer can I profess that I am a Christian but don’t show daily that Christ lives in me! No longer can I claim that I am HIS child when my thoughts, actions and deeds were not overflowing with HIS love. No longer could I live the way I was living and not seek him daily in prayer, scripture and worship. As the Lord blessed me with that knowledge I felt him also calling me to write my journey and share my thoughts, learning and mistakes with others. Hence the reason for 911. Not only was it a crises in my life to become a Godly Woman but as I delved into scripture to understand how to be Godly, I realized that we are living in crazy world where the desire to be Godly was no longer important. Many boast that they are a Christian and weekly attend Church, but lack the Godly qualities that Christ seeks in ALL of his followers. My deepest desire is to serve Christ faithfully, obey HIM joyfully, trust HIM always, seek HIM eternally and become his close friend so that I can share in his truth and knowledge. I pray that this blog blesses you and provide you with the strength, courage and wisdom to be a Godly Man or Woman.
