At a prayer retreat recently, during one of the prayer breakouts, I was praying and felt an urgency to also read the bible. I didn’t know where the Lord wanted me to read but I prayed for his guidance on what he wanted me to see. I opened the bible four times and was brought to these four passages that spoke deeply to me. The core message I felt was “doing right in God’s eyes”. Here are the four things that spoke to my heart:
Mark 5:28 ““because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.””
If I could only feel the touch of Christ. If I could only feel HIS loving arms around me. I want to be whole. I want to be free from my illness. I want to be free from debt. I want to be free from sin.
And I know I can be free.
As a child of God, I can find comfort in knowing that HE loves me and will always be with me. I am comforted that in all things, in my illness, in my suffering, HE will be glorified!
So I acknowledge to whom I serve and to whom I belong, the one true God. I pray for healing, for HIS will, for strength and discipline to do what is right in HIS eyes.
Mark 5:33-34 ““Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.””
The verses before this said that Jesus asked who touched his garments. The crowd was so thick it was impossible to know who it could have been. But our God knows all.
The interesting thing about this story though is that the woman did not wait for Jesus to point at her. In her fear, she knelt at HIS feet and confessed all.
So I confess Father. I confess…
Mark 5:36 ““Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Donʼt be afraid; just believe.””
We live our lives too scared. We are afraid of the future, we are afraid to die, we are afraid to truly live.
We need to just step out in faith and know that our Jehovah Jireh, our Provider will never leave or forsake us. We didn’t receive a spirit of fear but one of love. So let us bask in his love and just believe and know that all things will work out for good for us that love HIM.
Just do it
2 Chronicled 29:2 ““He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father David had done.”
David was known as a man after God’s heart. He was a strong man of worship and following God’s statutes.
Like David and his son Hezekiah to which the verse above applied to, we need to be people who live and act out the word of God. We need to study the word daily to understand how we are to “do what [is] right in the eyes of the Lord”.
So I pray for wisdom and understanding. That my God will teach me great and unsearchable things I do not know. That Jehovah, filled with HIS compassion and love will light a path unto my feet so that I will walk only where HE leads me.
Food for thought: Acknowledge, confess, believe and just do it. Continually pray for a deeper intimacy with God so that you will do what is right in HIS eyes.
Prayer: Holy God, how awesome you are. Might in power, all knowing and everywhere. Glory, honor and praise be to your name. Forgive our sins. Cleanse and renew us in you. Thank you for your grace, peace and love. Thank you for all you have graciously provided for us, even when we never say thanks. May you continue to drive us into closer communion with you. I pray on behalf of all those that are suffering, grieving, feeling loss and empty. I pray for those that have not accepted you as their Lord and Savior. Amen.
God’s mercy, grace and love be with you.
