I love my job!
But with every job there are just situations (usually office politics) or colleagues that drive you insane.
Some of you may be doing a job that is boring and mundane, little pay, horrible work times, new bosses … And the list can go on.
We may all have some reason why we really don’t like our job.
In my bible study tonight the verse in Colossians 3:23 really hit home for me. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,”
Boy, that isn’t an easy one is it.
But the key to this verse is that instead of us trying to please our boss, our colleagues and maybe even ourselves, we need to do our jobs as if we were trying to please God.
As a Christian, that really hits home for me. The bible warns us against having two masters.
I am such a boss pleaser!
If my boss isn’t happy I start feeling anxious and even sometimes frustrated without even knowing what’s going on. I hate it when they aren’t happy. But I learnt the very long and hard way that I can’t please them as well as please God.
And I won’t find joy in my work or excited to even wake up for work until I recognize my true purpose – to do whatever work I do to please God and not man.
Food for thought: Are you struggling to serve two masters? Choose God today.
Prayer: Father of peace, joy and love. Forgive us when we choose to serve and please the world instead of choosing you. May we store within our hearts Proverbs 3:5-7
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.
Amen
God’s grace, mercy and peace be with you.
Hmm!!! Hard to do but by His grace, we shall overcome.
