Are you a Saturday or Sunday worshiper?

Are you a Saturday or Sunday worshiper?

Are you a Saturday or Sunday worshiper? I have heard the arguments of why someone should be a Saturday or Sunday worshiper my entire life.

To be honest, it was never something that bothered me as I lived in a home where we all went to church on Sunday. Full stop. Rain or shine, hurricane, sickness … it didn’t matter. You had to get up to go to Church on a Sunday. Mama always said that if you felt sick, that was good because God would heal and bless your life as soon as you hit the Church door. (you just have to love Mama’s)

Our devotion

Are you a Saturday or Sunday worshiper? inside of a church - Godly Woman 911

Ever since I changed my life outlook where I didn’t want just to be a Christian, but I wanted to be a Godly woman, the Lord laid something on my heart.

“Now devote your heart and soul to seeking the Lord your God.” 1 Chronicles 22:19

A few weeks ago, when someone asked me if I was a Saturday or Sunday worshiper, I found myself pausing (which I have never done…. my response was always a quick one). The Lord provided me with a response:

“I am not a Saturday worshiper. Nor am I a Sunday worshiper. I am a DAILY worshiper. My worship, praise and glory to God cannot be tied down to one day. I need him daily in my life.”

The person’s eyes widened at my response, and he said, “wow”! I have never heard that before, and you are so right!

Paul’s advice

You see, in order to live a Godly life, we can’t depend on one day of worship. And in many cases, it is one hour or 2-3 hours for the week. Paul advises Christians what we should be doing: Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.Colossians 3:1-2

We live in a world that is constantly bombarding us with images, products and lifestyles that are not pleasing to God. Paul also tells us in Ephesians that to live this life, we need to put on the full armour of God and to do that, we need to be in His presence constantly.

Full armour

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6:10-18

As God’s people we need to always be on guard. Focused and ready for all things.

Reflections

Food for thought: Forget about the petty arguments of being a Saturday or Sunday worshiper. Focus on creating a Godly life where you spend every day with God, whether in focused prayer time, reading the bible, studying the bible, praising and worship, or fasting. God loves you, and He doesn’t just want to hear from you one day in the week – He wants to hear you every day!

Prayer: Holy Father, Prince of Peace and Lord of Lords. The Great I AM. There as so many within your flock that is being misled by man’s rules and the ‘structures’ of religion. Open their hearts and minds that they will see You and Your truths. May Your people wake up and seek You daily in worship and in truth. In Jesus name. Amen

Have you ever been disappointed in God?

Published by godlywoman911

I became a Christian at a young age and baptized at the age of 13. My journey has been bittersweet. A majority of my life I have been a Christian. But not a Godly Woman. After many failures, tears and tribulation I realized that something in my Christian life had to change. No longer can I profess that I am a Christian but don’t show daily that Christ lives in me! No longer can I claim that I am HIS child when my thoughts, actions and deeds were not overflowing with HIS love. No longer could I live the way I was living and not seek him daily in prayer, scripture and worship. As the Lord blessed me with that knowledge I felt him also calling me to write my journey and share my thoughts, learning and mistakes with others. Hence the reason for 911. Not only was it a crises in my life to become a Godly Woman but as I delved into scripture to understand how to be Godly, I realized that we are living in crazy world where the desire to be Godly was no longer important. Many boast that they are a Christian and weekly attend Church, but lack the Godly qualities that Christ seeks in ALL of his followers. My deepest desire is to serve Christ faithfully, obey HIM joyfully, trust HIM always, seek HIM eternally and become his close friend so that I can share in his truth and knowledge. I pray that this blog blesses you and provide you with the strength, courage and wisdom to be a Godly Man or Woman.
