A family member of a friend passed away today and the questions on persons minds were “Did he have a relationship with Christ? Was he saved?”
It saddens me when I think of persons who have left this earth and you are not assured or comforted in the knowledge of their relationship with God. But what is even more discouraging and heart breaking is the fact that in many cases they knew of God.
This is very much so in the Caribbean where we have been blessed with the opportunity to not only know God but to openly worship and praise HIM. We know that not many nations have been given the same opportunity.
But so many turn away from the message and the Good News to do things their way.
There is a difference between the knowing of God and KNOWING God! When you are in the knowing, it is as the Psalmist declares “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb.” Psalm 19:1, 7-10
As I said to a couple the other day, accepting Christ as your Savior is the same as going to apply for a US visa… Each apply on their own merit. Neither could apply for the other. It is the same as with our relationship with Christ. Your mother, grand father, sister, Pastor or friend can have that KNOWING but you need to know and accept Christ for yourself.
“Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Whose hands have gathered up the wind? Who has wrapped up the waters in a cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is the name of his son? Surely you know!” Proverbs 30:4
If you are not saved and not in the KNOW (through a close relationship with God your Savior) I invite you to call on him today.
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved…for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”” Romans 10:9-10, 13
Repeat this prayer:
Heavenly Father, your word tells me that by declaring with my mouth “Jesus is Lord” and believing with all my heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, then I am saved. I declare this today in Jesus name. I am a sinner. Cleanse me dear Lord and renew my soul. I accept you as my Savior and Lord and want to change from my sinful ways and serve you. Help me to obey and do your will. In Jesus name. Amen
Food for Thought: If you are a Christian, have you prayed for someone to be saved today? For the next 7 days let us all identify different people we would like to pray for. That God will soften their hearts and they will accept HIM as their personal Lord and Savior.
My prayer today is that each of you that read this post will obey God’s command to spread the Good News and pray on behalf of all sinners as his Word declares in 1 Timothy 2:1, 4 “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—… [God] who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” In Jesus name. Amen
